Webinar: Logistics Control towers
October 5, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
“Supply chain visibility” and “Logistics Control towers” are two buzz words that are frequently used when talking about the future of logistics. It sounds indeed great to have this capability, but the truth is that this capability has now also become reality, and even is becoming the standard. So the question is not if you should strive for this; the question is how to get this capability ASAP
We are indeed now at a point of convergence of fast paced technologic capabilities (numerous new entrants on the market, the Internet of things, Big data solutions, AI and analytics) and changing customer expectations (where consumers expect a seamless experience across all channels, a fast and flexible delivery and full visibility on their order) – a perfect storm driving massive change. Companies are shifting their focus and are now fully investing in creating visibility between different parties, via systems and interfaces, and consolidating this information in a Control tower which brings it all together.
There are different layers of Control tower maturity, going from simply providing real-time visibility on one end to fully automated decision-making and process execution based on AI and machine learning. We will give our view on the different types, their current maturity, what we expect for the future and what key benefits are.
As for most technology projects, it’s not just about selecting or developing the right software solution; It’s crucial to first define the appropriate operating model based on the long-term strategic vision of your company and the collaboration model with external parties. Leading companies have a model that fits their organization, there is no one size fits all solution, and these will heavily impact the requirements for the Control Tower. We will elaborate on the potential operating models including outsourced set-ups with LLP’s/4PL’s.
