Operational Planning is a Communication Process

“Plans are worthless, but planning is everything” – Dwight Eisenhower

The organisation of production that uses more than one component requires some level of planning. More components are required, more critical planning process becomes.
Because plans are translated into figures, we usually pay a lot of attention to the tools where plans are stored : MRP, sophisticated planning tools, excel sheets… When we concentrate on these tools, aren’t we forgetting some piece of wisdom that puts the way above the final destination? In our case, the dynamic of the planning process could be considered more important than the set of figures we call ‘Plan’, if we trust the experience of Dwight Eisenhower.

During the next Supply Chain Café, we would like to discuss with you on the role and the means of communication that are used in production planning.
Please join us on May 25th, bring your experience, questions and ideas, we hope to create an interesting discussion together!
