    • Candidates must pass all 5 APICS CPIM exams within 10 years to earn the APICS CPIM designation.
    • Candidates are required to maintain the designation every five years. More information about maintenance may be found at apics.org/maintenance.
    • Only the Basics module (BSCM) leads to a separate module certificate.
    • Candidates who earn the Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) certificate by obtaining a passing score on the exam (300 or higher), and candidates who have passed all five CPIM exams and have earned a CPIM designation, are eligible to obtain a certificate. Notification will be sent via email to qualified candidates upon completion of the exam with detailed instructions on how to obtain. Candidates can choose from two delivery options :
      • an electronic certificate can be downloaded and printed locally by accessing their My APICS account, at no charge.
      • a printed certificate can be requested via a link located on My APICS Certification page.  The first requested certificate is complimentary (shipping fees may apply) depending on candidate selection.

    Preparation Course

    • PICS offers preparation courses on CPIM certification and certified participants.
    • The preparation courses follow the structure of the CPIM Modules and are adapted to the timing of the international exams.
    • Applicants can choose between 2 different training formulas :

    • CPIM IN-DEPTH PREPARATION COURSE

      • Exercises are made and sample exam questions are discussed.
      • This course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills in the field of production and inventory management for individuals who have little background.
        The course consists of 5 sessions per module.
      • The instructor presents the official APICS study material in detail.  Most attention is given to the most difficult topics.

    • CPIM EXAM TRAINING

      • This course is designed to provide an intense review of the certification topics for individuals who already possess basic knowledge.
      • The course consists of 2 sessions per module.
      •  A session typically contains 2 parts :
        • Overview of the most important topics
        • Class discussion on some typical exam questions

    Consult the APICS website for up-to-date information concerning the CPIM program.

    The EXAM CONTENT MANUAL (to be ordered at the PICS office) gives all necessary information on content of the CPIM body of knowledge.

    • MODULE 1 : BASICS of SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (BSCM)

      • Explore the basic concepts in managing the flow of materials in a supply chain.
      • Topics include :
        • Introduction of Supply Chain Concepts.
        • Understanding basic businesswide concepts, including understanding various supply chain environments.
        • Managing demand, including markets and customer expectations.
        • Designing products, processes, and information systems.
        • Understanding supply issues including inventory costs, functions and metrics.

    • MODULE 2 : MASTER PLANNING RESOURCES (MPR)

      • Explore and be able to apply the principles sales and operations planning, master scheduling and distribution planning, and to identify and assess internal and external demand and forecasting requirements.
      • Topics include :
        • Recognizing all demands for goods and services to support the marketplace.
        • Bringing together all the plans for the business.
        • Disaggregating the production plan into an executable schedule.
        • Planning the distribution network and replenishment.

    • MODULE 3 : DETAILED SCHEDULING and PLANNING (DSP)

      • Acquire a working knowledge of the tools and techniques for planning of inventory, including planning techniques such as MRP, CRP, lean, TOC, and projects.
      • Understand the effect of using each technique; know standard measurements for inventory, materials, capacity and supplier performance; and recognize when to escalate issues.
      • Topics include :
        • Managing inventory, planning material requirements, planning capacity requirements, and procurement and supplier planning.
        • Recognizing the importance of supply chain management and deploying supply chain strategies related to scheduling, planning, and sourcing.
        • Translating product-level plans and schedules generated at the master planning level into requirements that can be procured or produced.
        • Bridging the master planning area with the execution and control function.
        • Planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and implementing projects that are used to manage the supply of products and services.

    • MODULE 4 : EXECUTION and CONTROL of OPERATIONS (ECO)

      • Learn to translate plans into operational activities and define and apply techniques in the operations field.
      • Topics include :
        • comparing actual output to plans and taking appropriate corrective actions ;
        • communicating ideas in a group setting and instructing others in tasks ;
        • creating operational solutions in the face of competing resources ;
        • explaining the release of work and reporting performance through data collection ;
        • understanding the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans ;
        • evaluating trade-off s and participating in design decisions.

    • MODULE 5 : STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT of RESOURCES (SMR)

      • Move your learning to the next level through the SMR module that includes higher level thinking or strategic planning and implementation of operations.
      • Topics include :
        • understanding of how market requirements drive the resources and processes of an organization.
        • understanding concepts that require a combination of elements and higher thinking within the entire CPIM body of knowledge ;
        • knowing the relationship of existing and emerging processes and technologies to operations and supply chain functions ;
        • understanding various business environments ;
        • knowing how business strategies are developed and how operation strategies are implemented.

    • If you have an APICS ID and email address in your records, but have not created a web profile, you can visit apics.org/forgotUID, enter your  APICS ID as the user name and follow the instructions.

  • The APICS examinations are offered in computer based testing (CBT).

    • The PICS office will register all applicants to each separate module exam on demand.
    • CBT offers the benefits of giving a greater flexibility to the candidate in taking the exam at the time that best fits their agenda.
    • Another benefit is the rapid turnaround of results : you will know the results immediately after you have taken the test, which influences the receipt of the certificates and the retesting.

    • REGISTRATION CPIM CBT EXAM

      • For the CPIM CBT exam you don’t have a registration deadline.
      • Candidates can purchase an exam credit through PICS Belgium.
      • Exam credits are valid for six months from the date of issuance.
      • Exam credits are non-transferable and non-refundable.

      • Once I have bought your exam voucher, you will receive an ‘Authorization to Test’-email with instructions on how to schedule further your exam appointment (see below).

    • AUTHORIZATION TO TEST

      • To schedule your exam appointment with the APICS test vendors, you will need to request an ‘Authorization to Test’ (ATT) yourself.
      • Before you submit a request, please verify that your first and last names in your APICS profile match the identification that you will present at the test center.
        • You can view your profile in My APICS :
        • There, you have the ability to change your last name.  If you must update your first name, you can contact APICS Customer Service at service@apics.org, 1-800-444-2742 or +1-773-867-1777.
      • Once candidates receive the ATT email from APICS, they will be immediately redirected to the Pearson VUE scheduling system.
      • Candidates will no longer be required to generate an independent account with Pearson VUE. Candidates are strongly encouraged to schedule their examinations immediately after purchasing their ATT in order to ensure seat availability.
      • Candidates will only be able to select an exam date that falls within the 6 month ATT validity period.
      • Upon scheduling the exam(s), candidates will receive a confirmation notice from Pearson VUE via email. It is the candidate’s responsibility to review the information within the confirmation notice to ensure they are registered for the correct test, at the correct site and on the correct date. If there are any errors or if no confirmation notice is received, the candidate must contact Pearson VUE directly.
